It all began back in 1989, when founder John Creighton who was working as a concreter on high-end architectural homes in Sydney asked a simple question:
If architecture is an expression of creativity, of luxurious materiality and the seamless blending of form and function - then why should drainage not be viewed by the same standard
Thus led to the invention of the world's first permanent formwork slot drain, a solution designed to mimic a concrete expansion joint, which offered better performance, durability, sustainability and aesthetics than the generic outdoor drainage solutions of the time.
Shortly afterwards, in the early 90s John set his sights on the shower area. While working alongside an architect who was designing a bathroom for a mobility-impaired client. John invented the first linear drain for shower applications - setting the foundation for specification of step-free shower entries - an innovation which has influenced modern architecture globally.
John's legacy of Aussie ingenuity lives on today in every product design. Renowned for quality, durability, sustainability and sleek aesthetics, every Stormtech product exceeds requirements of Watermark and Australian design standards, giving specifiers, construction professionals and homeowners peace of mind that the drainage they are selecting is designed for purpose, and built to last.
